  Something weird that happened is Nietzsche started to become ill. In 1889, Friedrich Nietzsche was found in the streets of Turin, Italy, weeping and embracing an old horse. It has been suggested that the cause of his mental and physical decline was a case of syphilis, and Nietzsche spent the remaining years of his life in peaceful obscurity under the care of his sister.
